This tour encompasses seat-in-coach touring as well as privately guided Jewish interest tours – In each city, you’ll encounter Europe’s richest Jewish heritage. In Budapest, you’ll be awed by Europe’s largest synagogue – in Vienna, you’ll breathe in the old-world ambiance of the cobbled streets where Herzl was inspired to dream of the return to Zion – and in Prague—you’ll marvel at the oldest synagogue in Europe and at Jewish treasures so splendid they are visited by almost every visitor to the Czech Republic.

ITINERARY:

WEDNESDAY, DAY 1 – EN ROUTE
Depart the U.S. for Hungary, on the airline of your choice. (Trans-atlantic fare is not included -we will be happy to assist)

THURSDAY, DAY 2 – BUDAPEST
Arrive in Budapest. Meeting, assistance & transfer to your hotel.
This afternoon’s touring acquaints you with the city's highlights. See Heroes’ Square, Matthias Church, Fishermen’s Bastion, Castle Hill and the Citadel. Remainder of the day is at leisure.

FRIDAY, DAY 3 – BUDAPEST
Today’s touring includes a visit to the Jewish Museum, with its wealth of artifacts and documents relating to Jewish life in Hungary. Stop at the Weeping Willow Memorial, dedicated to Jews who perished during the nazi reign of terror. Then, on to the Raoul Wallenberg Monument, honoring the Swedish diplomat who saved thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. Tonight, attend services if you wish, at the impressive Dohany Street Synagogue, built in 1859; it is the largest in Europe and was magnificently restored. Shabbat dinner at your hotel.     BD

SATURDAY, DAY 4 – BUDAPEST
Shabbat at leisure to spend as you would at home. Shop, stroll, or perhaps a cruise on the Danube – or a Turkish Bath – or perhaps visit the quaint town of Szentendre.     B

SUNDAY, DAY 5 – BUDAPEST-VIENNA
Morning departure by motor coach to the sparkling city of Vienna. Your Vienna guide will meet you at the hotel this afternoon for a tour of the city – The city has captivated travelers for hundreds of years with its elegant shops, world-class museums, scenic parks and gardens and the many historic sites on the Ringstrasse, Vienna’s famous boulevard. Today, your tour includes the Parliament, State Opera House, the magnificent Museum of Fine Arts with its world famous art treasures of the Habsburgs and the Museum of Natural History, and the Burgtheater. A highlight of the day will be a visit to the Imperial Schoenbrunn Palace. Balance of the day at leisure.      B

MONDAY DAY 6 – VIENNA
Today’s exploration of Jewish Vienna will feature the new Jewish Museum of Vienna at Palais Eskeles and the Judenplatz to see the Holocaust Memorial.    B

TUESDAY, DAY 7 – VIENNA
Full day at leisure to explore at your own pace.     B

WEDNESDAY, DAY 8 – VIENNA-CESKY KRUMLOV-PRAGUE
Your escort from the Czech Republic will pick you up this morning for the drive across the Czech border through the lush countryside dotted with castles and pristine lakes to Cesky Krumlov, one of the most beautiful old towns on the continent. After lunch at a medieval Benedictine Monastery, time to explore the winding lanes and shops that contribute so much to the atmosphere of this special town. Continue to Prague and check into your hotel.     B

THURSDAY, DAY 9 – PRAGUE
This morning visit the city’s Old Town including the 13th century Altneshul, Europe’s oldest synagogue, the Pinkas, Klaus and Maisel synagogues. Then continue to the 15th century Jewish cemetery crammed with over 12,000 graves. Walk past Franz Kafka’s House as well as Rabbi Loew’s statue. This afternoon’s tour includes Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral and Old Town Square, with its towers, turrets and astronomical clock.     B

FRIDAY, DAY 10 – PRAGUE
Full day excursion to Theresienstadt (Terezin), the “model” ghetto to which elite Jews were deported during the period of 1941-44. Visit the small fortress, museum and the Jewish cemetery with its impressive Menorah Sculpture surrounded by symbolic, nameless graves. After lunch, return to Prague. Shabbat dinner together.     BLD

SATURDAY, DAY 11 – PRAGUE
At leisure to explore as you please. Tonight, our Farewell Dinner caps a memorable visit.     BD

SUNDAY, DAY 12 – EN ROUTE
Transfer to the airport for the flight home.
