DAY 1: Arrive Florianópolis Arrive Florianópolis—this coastal capital is an island with 42 beaches ranging from quiet coves to roaring surf, including Praia Joaquina, a world famous surfing beach. Transfer to your hotel; rest of the day at leisure. (D)




DAY 2: Florianópolis and the Beaches Today, visit the city of Florianópolis, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, home of the beautiful wood carving “Escape from Egypt.” On to the Governor’s Palace, dating back to 1700 A.D. with its elegant collection of furniture, art and personal artifacts. Then, drive 10 miles northe of the city to Santo Antônio de Lisboa, one of the oldest villages on the island of Santa Catarina. This quaint settlement, which enjoys official protected status because of its outstanding cultural importance, is a treasure-trove, preserving the traditions of a fishing village community amongst centuries-old buildings. Its cobblestone main street is built from rough-hewn stone dating back to the days of slavery. See the beautiful Church of Nossa Senhora das Necessidades, considered one of the most charming on the island and the 200 year old Casa Açoriana; now a museum and art gallery. (B) DAY 3: Depart Florianópolis Spend the day relaxing on the beautiful beaches or choose from one of the many activities offered at your hotel. Afternoon transfer to the airport. (B)
